The Hempel Thinner No. 3 is the perfect solution for those few special situations where thinning is necessary. This thinner can also be used as a tool cleaner. Designed for Hempel’s Antifoulings, Non-Slip Deck Coating and spray thinner for 1K topcoat.

Application
- Please ensure you are using the correct thinners for the application.
- Paint can be thinned to improve its flow characteristics and to increase its ability to be absorbed. Care should be taken not to exceed the maximum recommended ratio of Thinners as this can adversely effect the product.
- When paint is thinned, the spreading rate will increase and the paint will be easier to work with. On the other hand, the dry film thickness will be thinner when the solvents have evaporated and it may be necessary to apply another coat to obtain the required film thickness.
Frequently Asked Questions
As a general rule, thinning is not normally necessary provided that the paint is properly mixed. Hempel in particular product and supply their paint in a way that means thinning is not normally required. However, if the paint is being applied to a low film thickness or if the paint has become too thick from something such as cold weather, then follow the datasheet on the product to obtain the required constitency most suitable for application.
Applying the thinner to the paint is simple, add the required amount and ensure that it is thoroughly stirred/mixed.
In general, thinning is fine as long as not too much is added, however adding too much thinner may effect the quality of the paint. The Hempel Thinner No. 3 is blended to give the best results with regards to brush ability and spray properties.
